OUR PURPOSE
The Connecticut Coalition against Crumbling Basements (CCACB) is a grassroots alliance committed to providing a voice for victims of failing concrete in our region. It was founded in early 2016 by two homeowners who discovered they were victims of crumbling concrete, and were stunned to realize no action had been taken by the State or otherwise in more than 14 years to stop the use of this affected concrete and address the devestating financial ramifications of this crisis.
CCACB seeks solutions to restore the financial value of affected homes without forcing homeowners into bankruptcy. Basement walls must be replaced to mend not just the structural integrity of the homes, but also the fiscal stability of towns in northeastern Connecticut, which could see mill rates increase as damaged homes become uninhabitable.
CCACB also encourages greater testing of building materials prior to use and more detailed record keeping by towns to avoid similiar situations in the future.
